The Story of Our Lady of Lourdes
St. Bernadette was a young girl gathering firewood in the French town of Lourdes with her sister and a friend when the Virgin Mary appeared to her and spoke to hen Our Lady appeared to Saint Bernadette a total of 18 times! During these apparitions, Bernadette asked her name and Mary replied: “I am the Immaculate Conception.” Another time, Our Lady told Bernadette where to dig to find a miraculous spring. And another time, Mary told Bernadette to build a church at the grotto where she had appeared to her. The image of Mary at Lourdes is known as Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of the Immaculate conception and Our Lady of the Rosary. The water from the miraculous spring has cured and healed many people ever since. Millions of pilgrims go to Lourdes to see the place where Mary appeared and to bathe in the spring to be healed and blessed.
Our Lady of Lourdes Grade School
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School is one of five schools that is part of the Omaha Catholic School Consortium (OCSC). The OCSC provides academic, administrative and financial support to its member schools. Our Lady of Lourdes Grade School provides Christ-centered educational opportunities for children pre-school to eighth grade in the mid-town area. Our Lady of LourdesSaint Adalbert Parish supports the Mission of the school in our volunteerism of the OLL Booster Club fundraising activities, support of school and community service activities, and by witnessing the faith in the Catholic tradition. Our Pastor conducts faith formation activities with the students through daily Mass and in preparation for the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation. He also provides or coordinates supplemental support to the school administration, teachers, students and families as needed.

Our History
Saint Adalbert Church was founded in 1916 by Archbishop Jeremiah J. Harty and Our Lady of Lourdes Church was founded in 1918. Both Churches were established in the Hanscom Park area to serve the Catholic faithful. For more than 100 years these two parishes have been an anchor for our neighborhood. Our Lady of Lourdes – Saint Adalbert merged into one parish in July of 2014 by Archbishop George J. Lucas. Our Lady of Lourdes School and Saint Adalbert School have educated over 4,000 individuals in the foundations of our Catholic faith through our Catholic education apostolate. Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School continues to serve the children in our neighborhood and beyond. Our alumni are spread across the entire United States and in many countries around the world. Our graduates have contributed to the betterment of our neighborhood, our country, the Catholic Church and to society at large. We are proud of our Alumni!
